There’s a quiet urgency I’ve been feeling lately—a pull toward healing that’s deeper than bubble baths or time off. I’m not seeking surface-level self-care. I’m seeking restoration. A clearing. A deeper relationship with my body, my energy, and what’s next for me.
That’s what drew me to Christine Soza.
She recently joined me on my podcast—Awaken Your Inner Healer (No White Robes Required)—to talk about the role Reiki can play in self-healing. Our conversation lit a spark. I didn’t want to just talk about energy healing. I wanted to experience it.
So, when Christine invited me to her space for a session, I said yes.
Her office was simple and elegant. Two chairs invited quiet conversation. A single therapy bed waited nearby, positioned beneath two ceremonial drums that hung from the wall beside healing artwork, a medicine stick, and a large macramé piece that reminded me of a three-tiered waterfall. Gentle music drifted through the space. The scent of lavender and essential oils lingered in the air—grounding, calming. When I slipped beneath the covers and let my body exhale, I felt the warmth of the table, the comfort of clean, soft sheets. Everything in the room whispered without words: You are safe here. You are held.
Before the session began, we sat across from one another and talked—about where I was emotionally, what I knew about energy healing, and what I hoped to receive. That brief exchange felt like an opening, a threshold between the outside world and something deeper.
When I laid down, Christine placed a soft eye pillow over my eyes and invited me into a visualization: a mountain and a waterfall. What sounded like bells rang gently—first to my right, then to my left. With each tone, as instructed, I imagined the graceful shape of an infinity sign, weaving balance into my being.
And then—stillness. I drifted into that liminal space between sleep and awareness. Random images floated through my mind’s eye, one dissolving to make way for the next. Nothing urgent. Nothing demanding interpretation. Just movement. Just release.
After the session, Christine shared her observations. She had sensed—and worked to clear—blockages in my heart and crown chakras. She spoke of the strength of my overall energy field, but also gently invited me to pay attention to areas like my knees and kidneys. She offered practical tools to help me create a protective energetic boundary—so I wouldn’t keep absorbing the emotional energy of others, something I’ve done for years.
I left the session feeling calm and deeply rested, like something inside me had quietly shifted. But I also left with clarity: I want to stay on this path. I want to learn more about energy work—not just as a recipient, but as a participant in my own health and healing.
I’ve always believed that rest is essential to healing. This session affirmed that. But it also reminded me that healing isn’t something we passively receive. It’s something we engage with—curiously, courageously.
This wasn’t my first Reiki session. I’ve had Reiki as part of massage and on its own. But Christine’s approach was something different. She didn’t just offer a technique. She offered presence. She listened before, guided during, and reflected after. She used sound, touch, essential oils, imagery, and intention. And she held the entire session with the kind of grace that made me trust the process—and myself—more deeply.
This experience fit beautifully into my larger spiritual journey. I’m in a chapter of life where I want to do more than age—I want to heal as I age. Not just to prevent illness, but to move through whatever life brings with more wisdom and grace.
Christine’s presence is calming and inspiring. She’s soothing without being soft, powerful without being forceful. She holds space like someone who lives what she teaches.
If you’re a woman 50+ and curious about energy healing, here’s my advice: try it. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain. Experience it before you try to understand it. Let your body decide. Let your spirit decide.
And most of all—be a seeker.
Ignore your doubts. Let the whispers of fear or judgment fall away. This is your life, your path, your healing. No one else gets to define what works for you. Trust what you’re drawn to. Follow what nourishes you.
Because healing—real healing—isn’t a luxury. It’s a return.
And you’re allowed to come home to yourself.
